Bharat: In yet another violation of the ceasefire understanding, Pakistani Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of 03–04 May 2025, targeting multiple sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The firing incidents were reported in the sectors opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor, raising tensions in the border areas. According to official sources, the Pakistani forces initiated the firing without any provocation, attempting to disrupt peace and instigate unrest along the sensitive LoC.
Demonstrating utmost professionalism and operational readiness, the Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately to the hostile acts. Indian troops effectively engaged the source of fire, ensuring the safety of forward posts and civilian areas, while maintaining strict control to avoid escalation.
“There was no loss of life or damage to infrastructure on our side. Our troops remain alert and fully prepared to respond to any threat to the sovereignty of our nation,” said an official spokesperson.
This fresh episode of ceasefire violation comes amid ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability along the LoC. The Indian Army has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national integrity while urging Pakistan to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and refrain from actions that endanger civilian lives and peace in the region.
Local residents near the LoC reported heightened alertness and movement of security forces but expressed confidence in the Army's ability to handle the situation. “We are used to such provocations from the other side, but our jawans are always there to protect us,” said a resident of Mendhar.
While the situation is being closely monitored, the Indian Army remains vigilant, and any further provocation is expected to be met with a strong and decisive response.
