In a moment of pride and continuity for the Military Nursing Service (MNS), Maj Gen Lisamma PV today assumed the appointment of Additional Director General (ADG), MNS, at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi. She succeeds Maj Gen Sheena PD, who superannuated on April 30, 2025, after a remarkable four-decade-long service to the nation.
Hailing from Kollam district in Kerala, Maj Gen Lisamma PV brings with her a distinguished blend of academic excellence, professional competence, and leadership. An alumna of the School of Nursing, Military Hospital, Jalandhar, she was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service in 1986. Over the years, she pursued higher education with dedication, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Law, followed by a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration — a testament to her commitment to continual learning and professional development.
Throughout her career, Maj Gen Lisamma has held several significant appointments that reflect both her clinical expertise and administrative acumen. Her leadership roles have included Principal of the College of Nursing at Command Hospital Air Force, Bangalore; Principal Matron at Command Hospital, Eastern Command; Brigadier MNS at Headquarters Eastern Command; Brigadier MNS (Admin) at Integrated Headquarters of MoD; and, most recently, Principal Matron at the prestigious Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in New Delhi.
She is widely respected for her advocacy of evidence-based practices in nursing and her emphasis on training, research, and innovation to keep the MNS aligned with global healthcare standards. Colleagues and subordinates alike laud her for instilling discipline, compassion, and professionalism in every unit she has served.
As she steps into the role of ADG, MNS, Maj Gen Lisamma PV is poised to lead the nursing wing of the Indian Armed Forces into a new era of modernization, resilience, and patient-centric care.
