India Launches Operation Sindoor in Retaliation for Pahalgam Terror Attack

On the night of 6-7 May 2025, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation SINDOOR targeting nine key terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoJK. The precision strikes were in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack and aimed to dismantle terror infrastructure without causing civilian casualties.

In a swift and precise military operation the Indian Armed Forces carried out coordinated strikes on nine terrorist camps across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan between the night of May 6 and early hours of May 7. The operation codenamed ‘Operation SINDOOR’ was launched in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed several innocent lives.

Addressing the media Colonel Sofyia Quereshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh detailed the planning execution and targets of the operation. Conducted between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM the strikes were aimed at dismantling key terror infrastructure with precision weaponry avoiding civilian areas and ensuring zero collateral damage.

This operation was about delivering justice to the victims of the Pahalgam attack said Col Quereshi Each target was selected after thorough intelligence assessment.

 

Targets in PoJK

Among the facilities hit in PoJK were:

Sawai Nala Camp Muzaffarabad-A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) training camp linked to recent attacks in Sonmarg Gulmarg and Pahalgam.

Syedna Belal Camp Muzaffarabad-A Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) site used for weapons and survival training.

Gulpur Camp Kotli-Known for training LeT cadres involved in the 2023 Poonch ambush and the June 2024 bus attack.

Abbas Camp Kotli-A hub for training suicide bombers.

Barnala Camp Bhimber-Specialized in jungle warfare and IED training.

 

Targets in Pakistan

Four camps in Pakistan were also struck:

Sarjal Camp Sialkot-Linked to the March 2025 killing of four J&K police personnel.

Mehmoona Joya Camp Sialkot-A Hizbul Mujahideen control centre for reviving militancy in Kathua and Jammu.

Markaz Taiba Muridke-Headquarters of LeT where 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab and American-Pakistani operative David Headley reportedly trained.

Markaz Subhan Bahawalpur-Headquarters of JeM and frequently visited by its chief Masood Azhar.

 

Precision Not Provocation

Officials confirmed that all targets were neutralized with precision and efficiency. No military establishments were attacked and no civilian casualties have been reported so far. The operation showcased India's capability to conduct deep-strike operations with surgical accuracy.

India has shown restraint Wing Commander Singh said but our forces are fully prepared for any escalation or misadventure by Pakistan.

Over the past three decades Pakistan has been accused of building a widespread terror infrastructure comprising recruitment centres training camps and launch pads. The recent strikes aim to dismantle this ecosystem that has claimed countless innocent lives in India.
