Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Priyanka Gandhi is Detained by Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday
Priyanka Ghandhi is detained by Uttar Pradesh police today around 5:30 am. The police took her in the custody from Hargaon.
At Midnight, Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi left to meet the farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri. The Police took Priyanka Ghandhi into custody from Hargaon before she reaches lakhimpur Kheri. She was placed under house arrest by Uttar Pradesh Police. However, after ditching police for about 5 hours the Uttar Pradesh police took Priyanka Gandhi into custody at around 5;30 am from Hargaon police station. Priyanka Gandhi has been taken to a guest house in sitapur district. Uttar Pradesh Congress has tweeted and asked people to reach the area in support.
Therefore, Ashish Mishra was also going with the convoy via Tikunia route to attend Keshav Prasad Maurya's program. A clash broke out near the power substation between the farmers and Asish. Farmer leaders allege that Ashish overpowered them. Due to this, Daljit Singh (24), Lovepreet Singh (25), Gurvinder Singh (22), and Nakshatra Singh died. After this the farmers stormed the convoy and set the vehicles on fire.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting last night regarding the Lakhimpur Kheri case. In which UP DGP and Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi were also present. CM Yogi has issued a statement expressing grief over the violence and said that there will be an investigation and the guilty will not be spared.
BKU Leader Rakesh Tikati said that the government has shown its inhuman nature in the Lakhimpur incident. When the government could not crush the farmers' movement, now they have started crushing the farmers under the vehicle. The government has the last nail in his coffin by doing this all this. There were light currents in the road accident, so the farmers were deliberately trampled by the car, he added. He also said that goons were goons roam in the vehicles of leaders and ministers. There should be an high-level and impartial inquiry into this matter. As farmers have been deliberately trampled, so the FIR should be registered against the accused for murder.
Today many leaders will reach Kheri to protest against the incident in Lakhimpur. Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister has decided to go to Lakhimpur. Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary is also reaching Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday. Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa will visit Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on Monday and take stock of the situation there.
