Bharat: In a significant move underscoring India's commitment to regional cooperation INS Sharda has arrived at Maafilaafushi Atoll in the Maldives for a maiden Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief HADR exercise scheduled from 04 to 10 May 25. This deployment highlights the deepening defence and maritime ties between India and the Maldives and falls in line with India's MAHASAGAR vision which stands for Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Maldives National Defence Force MNDF. It will include coordinated efforts such as disaster response management search and rescue operations provision of medical aid logistical support joint drills training sessions and community outreach initiatives in the wake of a simulated natural disaster.
India and the Maldives share a long-standing maritime relationship based on mutual trust and shared responsibilities in ensuring peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region. Through this joint HADR exercise both nations reaffirm their readiness to face humanitarian emergencies and reinforce regional resilience in times of crisis.
By promoting operational synergy and people-centric outreach this initiative is a step forward in building a safer and more cooperative maritime neighbourhood in South Asia.(PR)
