Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma lashed out at the Congress party saying 'The way they (Congress) tried to assassinate PM Modi, it has once again exposed the mindset of the party's in front of the people of India.' Following the unfortunate incident on Wednesday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was stopped for nearly 20 minutes by the protesting farmers while his way to Ferozepur.
Sarma also said, "All BJP workers and people of Assam praying for the long life of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We also prayed that there is a good understanding of the Congress leadership - they cannot eliminate the Prime Minister like this".
Across Assam, at various temples, 'Mahamrityunjaya Yagya' has also been performed, with devotional programs organized throughout the day to pray for the prime minister's 100 years of life.
Himanta Biswa Sarma condemned the incident and warned the Congress party that if such an incident happens again, BJP workers will not tolerate it.
BJP workers protested in the Vishwanath district of Assam on Thursday evening against the security lapse incident of PM in Punjab. They raised slogans against the Congress-led Punjab government.
