Union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan laid the foundation stone for a medical college to be built at Mon district in Nagaland on 26 February 2021. This will be the second medical college in Nagaland after the medical college in Kohima. Mon District Hospital was approved for upgradation into a full-fledged Government Medical College by the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare for the establishment of a Medical College on 15 September 2020.
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan expresses that, “The new medical college will add to the Government’s sustained efforts for the growth and progress of Nagaland State.”
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also expressed and thanked the Union Health Minister for personally coming to Nagaland to lay the foundation stone of Mon Medical College. And also said that it was a proud privilege to be a part of the historic day. As it will provide health care to Naga people and particularly to the underprivileged and far-flung areas of the State is a long-cherished dream and the beginning journey of fulfilling the people's dream.
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan was accompanied by Nagaland Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio, Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi, and Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom in the foundation laying ceremony.
