RCC BRIDGE OVER RIVER NGAI INAUGURATED BY H CHUBA CHANG

The RCC Bridge over River Ngai which connects Wokha district with Zunheboto district was constructed under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) and was inaugurated by special Guest H. Chuba Chang, Advisor, PWD Road and Bridges, Nagaland on Friday, May 13th 2022, in the presence of Er. Picto Shohe, MLA, Atoizu Constituency, Er. Kahuli Sema Engineer-in-Chief of NPWD, officials from PWD, GBs and public leaders.

Special guest H Chuba Chang Advisor, PWD (R&B) Nagaland said that if Nagas desire to pave for the development, they must first do away with the culture of landownership benefits and asserted that the landowners must not seek personal benefits which definitely is a hurdle for developmental progress instead they should rather think for the benefits of the community at large. He further said that to attain any smooth development the public, GBs and civil societies should also cooperate with the state Govt. And further he wishes that the construction of this bridge could sustain the good connection and bring more peace and harmony between the two neighbouring tribes.

Er. Picto Shohe during his inaugural speech said that the Ngai RCC bridge is dedicated particularly to the people of Saptiqa and the Atoizu area, he said that the installation of the RCC bridge over Ngai not only connects the Wokha with the Zunheboto district but it also connects with a neighbouring district like Tuensang and many Sumi neighbouring villages. Er. Picto, while narrating the background of the Ngai RCC bridge said that during the site location for the construction of the Ngai bridge there were several technical problems but through the intervention of Er. Meren Jamir, the then Engineer-in-Chief of NPWD the present site location was finalized and is finally inaugurated today.  He expressed his gratefulness to Er. Meren Jamir, the concerned department officials, and the contractors for their tireless efforts for the successful completion of the project. 

 

Er. Kahuli Sema said that earlier there was no permanent bridge connection in this region and the people of this region has suffered so many untold hardships, the commuters from the region had to travel to Satakha and subsequently via Chozuba road to reach the state capital Kohima, Dimapur but now with the installation of RCC Bridge over River Ngai the journey would be henceforth more convenient and will prevail as the lifeline for the people in the region. Kahuli also expressed her gratitude to Er. Picto Shohe, MLA 32 A/c Atoizu constituency that this development had taken place during his leadership and also thanked everyone who attended the inaugural program. Er. K Hetoi Sema Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B) Atoizu Division during his technical presentation said that the work was sanctioned on 7th January 2013 with the fund amounting to 10.74 Crore for this two-lane RCC bridge which was constructed by Vizheto Sumi.

 

A dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Ato G. Associate Pastor Youth, Shena Old Baptist Church and chaired by Er. Kevide Nakhro additional Chief Engineer PWD(R&B), Kohima with a benediction offered by Shihuto Awomi Pastor, Usutomi Baptist Church
