In view of the Covid-19 patients rising in the country, both central and state government is taking every possible step to fight against the dreaded disease to content the virus. And in this fight, not only the government but individuals, groups, and various communities are putting their collective effort towards relief work amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the increasing numbers of Covid-19 patients in the state of Manipur, the Poumai Naga Officers’ Federation (PNOF) in Manipur extended their help in combating Covid-19 by donating a 30-kilovolt ampere power generator to COVID-19 Isolation Ward at the District Hospital Senapati on 3rd June 2021. The power generator was an urgent and immediate requirement for fighting against Covid-19 which can be used as an effective tool for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in the district. The state government is taking every possible step to fight against the dreaded disease.
The President of Poumai Naga Officers Federation Shri P. Duna Duo, MCS, SDO/BDO Songsong, told the media that, “we know the government is doing all it can in this fight against the disease. Government cannot do everything all the time, government also has limitations in terms of resources and manpower. Thus, We, PNOF wanted to show support to the government and also express our concerns for our people during these unprecedented extraordinary times. We were told that the District Hospital, Senapati requires a generator urgently for uninterrupted use of Oxygen Concentrator and other appliances for COVID-19 patients, so we decided to procure it from Guwahati and donate it. We hope it helps in saving our people’s life”.
Shri D. John Sha, MFS, Divisional Forest Officer/Senapati - the General Secretary of PNOF mentioned that “through the support and donation of Poumai Officers posted throughout the country the mission to donate Generator to the Covid Isolation Ward, District Hospital Senapati became a reality. The total cost of this generator and installation is approximately Rs. 5,20,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs Twenty Thousand) only.”
Poumai Naga Officers ‘Federation comprises of Officers working in different fields’ both in central and state government from POUMAI Community.
This is not the first time PNOF is extending help for COVID relief, during the last year’s first wave Covid-19 the PNOF has extended help by depositing cash to the 521 Poumai individuals and passengers’ fare who were stranded outside the state.
The PNOF hopes that some positive changes will happen in the district through this donation.
