Delhi Police on Saturday arrested former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan for allegedly beating up South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) employees at Shaheen Bagh in South Delhi. Asif Mohammad Khan allegedly abused SDMC personnel and thrashed the employees with sticks as they removed hoardings and posters of Asif Mohammad Khan.
On November 25, Asif Mohammad Khan abused the personnel of SDMC and beat the employees very badly with sticks. A video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, Khan can be seen beating four people with sticks. He asks them to sit on the road and abuses them.
As soon as the video surfaced, Sudarshan News had raised this news prominently and demanded the administration to take strict action against former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad.
Following which, Delhi Police has registered a case against him under IPC sections 353 (assault on public servant), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to public servant), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty) etc. A case has been registered at Shaheen Bagh police station.
DCP (Southeast) Isha Pandey said: “We received a complaint from Ram Kishor, MCD inspector of Lajpat Nagar area regarding the incident. They complained that Khan misbehaved and assaulted MCD employees on duty and obstructed government work. We have arrested Khan. The matter is under investigation."
