A week before the Tripura civic polls, Section 144 was imposed in areas of Khowai district in which 19 people, including two policemen, were injured in clashes between BJP and TMC workers last night.
Curfew has been imposed in three ward areas of Teliamura Municipal Council, 40 km from Agartala.
In a press statement issued by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, it has been said that Section 144 has been implemented from today to maintain peace, law and order in the areas of Ward No. 13, 14, 15 of Teliamura Municipal Council. This order will be effective till November 24.
In the order, public movement of more than four persons has been banned till further orders. Police, paramilitary forces, government and non-government offices and market areas will be exempted from restrictions.
Meanwhile, three separate cases were registered at Teliamura police station over clashes between ruling political activists.
