Following the press release of SIT team, The NSF has issued an official statement through the President’s video message stating that they appreciated the government’s effort in investigating the case to deliver justice to the victim; however, one month time is lapse to submit the SIT report. The NSF president appealed to the SIT team to speed up the investigation and on receiving the central forensic report, may it be known to the public. Lastly, he appealed to the concerned authority to let the public know what course of action or initiative has to be taken towards the jawans and officers of oting incident.
On 5th December 2021 Special Investigation Team has been constituted and one month was given to submit the final report of the Oting massacre in Mon village where 14 civilians were brutally killed by paramilitary forces in a failed operation.
The SIT team led by Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Sandeep M. Tamgadge, briefed the media in Kohima on Thursday and said that the team is awaiting the results of forensic analysis from Guwahati, Hyderabad and NEILIT, Kohima.
He mentioned that the field investigation is over at Mon village. The ADGP also pointed out that the preliminary report can’t be made public, especially when the investigation is incomplete. He also mentioned that it was difficult to say how much more time the forensic analysis would take to share their reports.
The ADGP said one SP-ranked officer has been assigned with the task to follow up with the labs constantly.
