Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju today said at a felicitation program of Bar Council of India Chief Justice NV Ramana while he stressed: "justice delayed is justice denied".  Indian judicial system needs to give priority to the common man. He also praised Chief Justice NV Ramana, underlining that he will create a new dawn for the judiciary and he is doing exactly what needs to be done.

Shri Kiren Rijiju raised the issue of pending court cases in the country during the program. “People keep raising issues of pending cases in the courts. It is the lower courts where we need to look urgently. When someone from a humble background or a rural area tries to get justice, he gives his all. Sometimes they even have to sell their land and other properties."

"So if justice is delayed, that is a big question mark on all of us. Justice delayed is justice denied. Priority should be given to the last mile-man the common man," he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Ramana said, "Law has often been viewed as a rich man's profession. Slowly the situation is changing. Opportunities are opening up. Lakhs of people in India are unable to approach the courts." Lack of money and time delay is a big challenge".
