Tamil Nadu, Stalin government, has started the exercise to melt 2138 kg of gold kept in the temples there, due to which the government of MK Stalin and this decision has also started a strong protest in the entire state and many parts of the country. The state government says that it will melt this gold and make rods, which it has the right to do, but the petitioner claims that the Stalin government is confiscating the gold without properly valuing the gold, that is, in a hurry, for its personal benefit.

But now this decision of the state government is being opposed. This order of the state government has now been challenged in the Madras High Court. The petitioner has termed this decision of the government as illegal. The petitioners claim that the intention of the state government, which is taking hasty steps without proper audit of the gold offered by the devotees in the temple, also raises questions.

As per the records, High court had ordered the valuation of the temple property on June 7. The court had said in its order that this is not happening in Tamil Nadu for the last 60 years. Instead of conducting a proper audit, the state government announced melting of gold ornaments and other items apart from large ornaments used in the decoration of deities. The government has planned to melt 2138 kg of gold.

At the same time, the state government says that it has the right to melt the gold kept in the temple and convert it into gold bars and this process is going on for 50 years. But this decision of the Stalin government remains a cause of great controversy in Tamil Nadu. People who have faith in temples are questioning this decision of the government.

The petitioners have argued in the High Court that the Tamil Nadu government is talking about auditing gold to mislead the people, but according to the target set by them, audit of 2 temples is to be done in a day. It is not possible to get the assets accumulated over the years to be audited so quickly. The Stalin government has announced the order to melt the gold, but it has not yet been put on the website. The petitioners have demanded an immediate stay of this order from the High Court. The matter will be heard on October 21.
