In Uttar Pradesh, Assembly elections are going to be held next year, but let us tell you that the BJP has given a big blow to the Samwadi Party before the elections. Samajwadi Party's rebel MLA Nitin Agarwal, backed by BJP, has been elected as Deputy Speaker of the UP Assembly. By 244 votes, Nitin Agarwal defeated SP's candidate Narendra Verma. Nitin Agarwal is the son of seven-time MLA Naresh Agarwal.

In the year 2017, he himself won the election by contesting on the SP ticket, however he left the party due to some differences with the SP party. Voting for the post of Deputy Speaker in the UP Legislative Assembly began around 11.45 am today and went on till 3 pm. After that the results were declared. Nitin Agarwal got 304 votes while Narendra Verma got only 60 votes.

Along with this, four votes were also canceled. For this election, where BJP had supported rebel SP MLA Nitin Agarwal, SP had fielded former minister Narendra Verma. BJP has nominated MLA Nitin Agrawal for the third time from Hardoi Sadar assembly seat for the post of Deputy Speaker of the UP Assembly. BJP made this election SP vs SP by fielding Nitin Agarwal.

This is the first time that a power-backed candidate has become the Deputy Speaker of the UP Assembly. The BJP has technically supported the opposition party's own MLA Nitin Agarwal and took two targets simultaneously and got its vice-president made. The UP Vidhan Sabha has got a Deputy Speaker after nearly 14 years. The last time in the year 2007, Rajesh Agarwal was the last deputy speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly.

For this, a one-day special session of the Vidhan Sabha was called today. Before the commencement of voting, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) staged a walkout from the House, alleging that it was breaking the parliamentary convention. The BJP has 304 MLAs in the 403-member state assembly and the Samajwadi Party has 49 MLAs. Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally of BJP, has 9 MLAs. The BSP has 16 MLAs in the assembly. The Congress also decided to boycott the election process, which has seven MLAs.
