Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President, K.Therie said that Nagaland state will be going for its general elections in December 2022 along with Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh states. The NPCC President was addressing a press conference today at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.  Therie said that as per their enquiry following the BJP NDPP 20:40 seat-sharing deal, the state election is to be advanced 3 months early with the actual election on February 2023, hence the seat-sharing deal of BJP-NDPP was "early and untimely", he stated.

Therie alleged that the BJP government wanted to form a government of its own in Nagaland and the ruling NDPP party led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have committed they will join the BJP fold after forming the next government.

He further alleged that the BJP and the Government of India's ceasefire agreement is the solution. He said, after the formation of a BJP Government in the state, the legislators will not pave way for settlement and the issue of bringing a settlement will die its natural death. He added, that the United Undemocratic Alliance UDA-led coalition government's objective of forming a BJP government in the state was more important than bringing settlement to the decades-old Indo-Naga political issue.

Therie also accused Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of dividing the Nagas in terms of tribalism, factions, religion etc as he continues to run the state for the last more than 15 years now.

"He is the person responsible for dividing all the factions, all the tribals, all sections of classes including religion divide. If we don't change our generation will be responsible, Congress will not be alone responsible", said Therie.

He said it is now time for the people of Nagaland to make a decision.

Meanwhile, Therie also announced that the Nagaland Congress will be contesting in all the 60 constituencies in the next general election and women candidates are also in the pipeline to contest from the Congress ticket.
