In a significant initiative to promote sports and community engagement, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army organized a Football Tournament in Digboi, located in the Tinsukia District of Assam, from 28 October to 02 November 2024. This event brought together eight football clubs from Digboi and its surrounding areas, showcasing the exceptional sporting talent and fervor of the region's youth.
The tournament not only provided an exciting platform for the teams but also aimed to inspire and encourage young athletes in Assam. Over the course of the event, participants displayed remarkable skill and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of competition and camaraderie.
After a series of thrilling matches, Tingrai FC and Lakhipathar United Eleven emerged as the finalists. Ultimately, Lakhipathar United Eleven clinched the coveted trophy, solidifying their position as champions.
This football tournament aligns with the government's vision of promoting sports as a way of life among the youth, aiming to cultivate talent and encourage healthy competition. Moreover, it served as an excellent opportunity for the Indian Army to connect with local communities, fostering trust and a sense of belonging among the youth.
