On Sunday, Kashmir's Srinagar college students who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in T20 World Cup are booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and other relatable sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The Jammu & Kashmir Police has registered two FIRs against management, students and hostel wardens of two medical colleges in Srinagar. There students created a ruckus and raised anti-India abusive slogans after Pakistan won the match against India in Dubai.
Students pursuing other degrees and MBBS residing in the hostel raised slogans, including ‘azadi’ slogans and burst crackers while celebrating India’s loss to Pakistan.
Various videos of Sher-E-Kashmir institute and Government Medical College (GMC) of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar had gone viral.
A senior officer of J&K Police informed “The FIRs have been registered in Karan Nagar and Soura Police Stations of Srinagar under sections 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention act and 505 of the Indian Penal Code. Our probe is currently underway. We will set an example through this case,”
Social media buzzed after the video went viral and demanding action by J&K Government and the Police against those medical students.
A video showed Kashmir students singing the Pakistan national anthem on India’s loss.
A female medical student from GMC in Jammu on condition of anonymity said “Such doctors are a risk for humanity. How will they treat the soldiers posted in Kashmir only God knows!
