On December 1 morning, two terrorists were killed during an encounter. The encounter broke out between the terrorists and the security forces in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The identity of the two is still ascertained, J & K police said.

As per the reports, the two terrorists belong to the proscribed terror outfit Jaish e Mohammed (JeM). The operation is still ongoing.
Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir said, "Top JeM terrorist commander Yasir Parray, an IED expert and foreign terrorist Furqan were neutralized in the encounter. He said that both terrorists were involved in several terror crime cases. The encounter broke out earlier in the day at the Qasbayar area of Pulwama.
In the past few months there was a significant surge in the Valley related to terror incidents. On November 30, Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai told the Lok Sabha that atleast 72 sustained injuries and 40 civillians have been killed in terror-related incidents in Jammu & Kashmir till 15th November this year. At that time 86 injured and as many as 35 security personnel were also killed.
