India-Central Asia Summit: PM Modi host the first India-Central Asia summit

During this summit being held through virtual medium, the leaders attending it will discuss the steps to take the relationship to new heights with the regional security situation.

To give new dimensions to relations between India and Central Asian countries, India-Central Asia Summit will be organized on Thursday through virtual medium, which will be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Presidents of five countries will participate in the meeting.

The names of Kazakhstan President Kasim Jomart Totaev, Uzbekistan President Shaukat Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahman, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimohammed and Kyrgyz Republic President Sadir Zaparov are included.

During this summit being held through virtual medium, the leaders attending it will discuss the steps to take the relationship to new heights with the regional security situation. In this meeting everyone will share their views.

This conference is being organized a day after India's 73rd Republic Day. In which this time no foreign head of state was invited as the chief guest. There was a plan to invite leaders of five Central Asian countries as chief guests but this could not happen due to the Corona epidemic.

At the same time, the Ministry of External Affairs said about this summit that it will be the first of its kind at the level of leaders between India and Central Asian countries. The ministry said that the summit signifies the importance of a comprehensive and sustainable India-Central Asia partnership on the part of leaders of India and Central Asian countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the first India-Central Asia Summit is a shadow of the country's growing ties with Central Asian countries that are part of India's extended neighbourhood. Prime Minister Modi visited all the Central Asian countries in the year 2015. Since then talks have taken place at high level bilateral and multilateral fora.

According to the ministry, during this conference, the leaders are expected to discuss the necessary steps to take the relationship between India and the Central Asian countries to new heights. Apart from this, he will also deliberate on issues of regional and international interest. During this, talks can also take place regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
