On December 18, the Allahabad High court has banned a person from taking criminal action, who has been booked under the Anti Conversation Act (Love Jihad Act) in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. This case was registered on the second day after the new conversion law was passed in Uttar Pradesh.

Hearing the plea of Nadeem, the accused in the case, The high court judges Pankaj Nakwi and vivek Aggarwal  has said that no action should be taken against the petitioner till the next listening/ date of case.

The judges citing article 25, of the constitution, said that it gives freedom to every person freedom to follow and propagate their own religion. In the related case, the woman is an adult who knows about her own well bing. The woman and the petitioner have the fundamental right to privacy and are adults and know the consequences of their relationship.

Nadeem is a labourer, on whom.the woman's husband lodged FIR on November 29, at the Mansoorpur police station in Muzaffarnagar. In this a case has been registered under Uttar Pradesh Unlawful Conversion Ordinance 2020, Section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 506 ( Criminal intimation) of IPC.

The court has said in its order that the court has no evidence to believe that the petitioner has forced to convert the women's religion. Whatever, allegations have been made are on the basis of doubt.
