Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Dimapur, Nagaland yesterday, and held a closed-door discussion with representatives of NCSN (IM) in the presence of Nagaland counterpart Shri Neiphiu Rio regarding the ongoing peace talks between NCSN (IM) and the Government of India.

After almost two years, formal talks between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM have resumed. And this is also the first time that the NSCN (IM) is holding talks with political leaders since it began negotiation with the Center in 1997.
Shri Sarma ji who is also the convener of NEDA told that the Naga peace talk is a long-running peace process and it will take some more time to conclude. He also said that the purpose of the visit was political and issues related to the upcoming Nagaland Assembly elections were also discussed.
