A gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces in Hakripora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials told that a joint team of Police, army's 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
He said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.
As per the sources, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area and the heavy exchange of firing going on from both sides.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the 2nd such encounter during last 15 hours in south kashmir areas, two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter at Melhura area of Shopian district in south kashmir.
