The phase wise demolition drive is to start from 5th May, 2022 (Wednesday). Therefore, the Delhi police are all set to assist the civic bodies. As per the information received, encroachment will be removed from Okhla in the first phase. However, South Delhi Municipal Cooperation has issued a letter which shows a major drive against encroachment in the capital city.
The areas that will be covered by the anti-encroachment drive involves C, D, E, K, L, M and N block of Sarita Vihar, Jasola village and the other surrounding areas. SDMC officials will carry out the drive against street vendors and parked vehicles. Yet, Mukesh Suryan, the SDMC Mayor is not expected to be a part of the drive today.
On 4th May, 2022 the demolition drive will take place in Mehrauli Badarpur road and Karni Singh Shooting Range. The bulldozer will remove encroachment in Kalindi Kunj Park to Jamia Nagar police Station, and Kalindi Kunj main road on May 5. On 6th May the drive will be done in Srinivaspuri Private Colony to Okhla Railway Station Gandhi Camp. A two day gap will be given after May 6 and then from 9th May the demolition will be started.
The officials said, “The next phase of the demolition drive against encroachment will take place on May 9. It will be done in South Delhi’s most sensitive Zone, Shaheen Bagh. Encroachment on roads and illegal constructions will be demolished. Letters have been written to the South and South East DCP’s.”
“May 9 will be a challenge as demolition and encroachment removal drives will take place at Shaheen Bagh G Block to Jasola and Jasola Nale to Kalindi Kunj Park. Extra force might be developed to prevent any untoward incident, the officials added.”
