Delhi's wage labor did not get the ration card even though he had filled the application form 8 years ago. On this matter, the judge of the High Court of the capital reprimanded the Delhi government and asked why the daily wage laborer have not got ration card yet.
Ration card is a government document which is given by the state government to the people of its state. This ration card gives subsidy to the people, with the help of which the citizens of the state can buy food grains and other items for less money than the market rate. This ration card is generally given to people above poverty line, below poverty line and Antyodaya families.
Under the National Food Security Rule, all the state governments of India have to find such families which come under this rule.
Justice Rekha Palli has issued notice on the petition of a daily wage labourer. Justice Palli also gave time to the counsel for the Delhi government to get directions in this regard. While giving notice to the government, Justice asked why the application for issuance of ration card of daily wage labor is pending for eight years? In the petition for not getting the ration card, it has been demanded that they should be given a ration card within the stipulated time frame on which the name of his family is mentions.
While demanding the ration card, the petitioner in his petition alleged that the government had filled the application form for the ration card in September 2013. We also made constant requests in this regard but no action was taken by the authorities. The court, on 6th October, had said that in view of the kind of relief sought in the application, the counsel for the Delhi government is directed to get information. That is why the applicant's application is pending for the last eight years.
