On Thursday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Anil Baijal, urging him to allow chhath puja celebrations as Covid situation is under control in the capital. He requested Baijal, urging him to keep a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) ASAP to grant permission for Chhath celebration.
CM Kejriwal tweeted, "I have urged Hon’ble LG to allow Chhath pooja celebrations in Delhi. Corona is now in control and many other states have allowed it.
On 30th September, 2021 DDMA prohibited the celebration of Chhath Puja on the river banks, temples, and water bodies in the view of Covid-19 situation.
For the Last three months the Covid situation is under control and Kejriwal believed that the permission to celebrate chhath puja should be given with pandemic protocols. He also said that other states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have also allowed the Chhath Puja celebrations with reasonable restrictions.
