Taking a big
decision, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has changed the name of
Faizabad railway station. Now this station will be known as Ayodhya
Cantt. Earlier the name of the district was changed to Ayodhya instead
of Faizabad. Similarly the name of Allahabad city has been changed to
Prayagraj.
Notification in this regard will be issued soon. Approval has been received from the Government of India in this regard. On behalf of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), it has been said that UP CM Yogi Adityanath has decided to change the name of Faizabad Railway Junction to Ayodhya Cantt.
Earlier in 2018, Yogi Adityanath had announced that Faizabad will be known as Ayodhya district. On 6 November 2018, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the renaming of Faizabad district to Ayodhya and shifting the administrative headquarters of the district to Ayodhya city.
After three years the Uttar Pradesh government renamed the Faizabad district as Ayodhya. Its railway station has also been named after the neighboring temple town.
