In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing security measures, the CEO of Arunachal Pradesh, Pawan Kumar Sain, announced 17th April 2024 at a press conference that the state has achieved a historic milestone by ensuring 100% deposit of licensed arms. This initiative marks a significant step towards curbing unlawful activities and ensuring public safety in the region.
Mr. Kumar Sain revealed that the initiative garnered substantial support from the residents, with a total of 753 armed licenses being voluntarily deposited. This proactive participation reflects the collective commitment of the community towards fostering a safer environment.
Highlighting the impact of the initiative, Mr. Kumar Sain disclosed the seizure data, revealing a staggering amount of ₹17.5 crore worth of illicit arms and ammunition, and alcohol, as well as cash has been confiscated by the authorities, so far. Additionally, he provided statistics on incidents reported, with a total of 36 recorded thus far, resulting in 33 injuries and the identification of 66 culprits.
The concerted efforts of law enforcement agencies have led to the apprehension of 4,023 individuals involved in various unlawful activities, with 199 arrests made. Notably, Kumar Sain announced the suspension of one employee from the Power Department in connection with the ongoing investigations.
In light of the evolving situation, Kumar Sain underscored the importance of maintaining law and order, disclosing that 13,176 armed forces personnel are currently deployed to ensure the safety and security of citizens across the state.
